Funky, not fuddy-duddy grey

Recently I have fallen in love with the colour grey. No, not powder grey, or tweedy grey, or woolly grey, but solid concrete matte grey, like cement really.

I really hate the way the corporate crowd wear grey. Grey pants with white shirt (safe), grey skirt with black top (predictable), grey jacket with grey eyeshadow (boring). No wonder everyone looks half-dead along Raffles Place. They make grey look tired and dowdy, doing awful injustice to this wonderful shade.

Grey in my opinion, is the best colour to bring out the essence of wonderful vibrant hues. Black is OK to wear with primary colours, but the loud contrast can be a bit too harsh for the eye. But the right shade of grey can really soften bright shades and make you look stylish and serious instantly.

Take the cue from the SKII skincare consultants who strut around in their tailored grey suits in front of the maroon counters. And HSBC employees who wear grey to complement their red logo. And not forgetting our grey trains with bright crimson SMRT splashed across the body.

Grey is a colour used everywhere. Don’t believe me? Let’s see. What colour is your digital camera? What colour is the task bar of your Windows? What colour is your TV remote control? What colour are the pavements? What colour is your tap? (OK silver, but hey that’s considered a shade of grey too)

Grey is used commonly because it goes with everything and it’s a soothing shade. But please don’t make it boring! Try pairing the grey items you have with a splash of colour and be ready for the compliments which will (trust me) follow.

Grey with orange: quirky. Grey with baby pink: classy. (Even pedestrian walkways are in this colour scheme, see below) Grey with green: edgy. Grey with yellow: cheeky. Grey with blue: funky. You get the idea.

Now try it. Make grey come alive.

And if anyone dare say you are gaudy, tell them to go eat their boring grey jumper.

Yes, I am inspired by Soon Lee and am constantly trying to stay trendy though I am just a boring civil servant.

Those who have not checked out the website yet should do so using my links! The shop is at 56A Haji Lane, Level 2. Do visit it! You’d love it.

As for camera, it works pretty well and is very user-friendly. I’m loving the quality of the low light shots. The battery life is quite long, can last for a 5-7 days.
